Padre Island Art Gallery is a woman-owned business dedicated to showcasing and selling artworks by local, internationally recognized artists. Discover our thoughtfully curated collections and be inspired by the captivating beauty on display.

Additionally, we provide commission services, allowing you to request a bespoke piece that is truly unique and tailored specifically to your style and preferences.

​It may seem like art is just magically made, but in fact it is actually a lot of work! From conception, art direction and creation, to marketing and so much more, it takes a dedicated team to bring our talented artists' creations to the public.

Each artist at Padre Island Art Gallery is highly valued, and I am excited to collaborate with this exceptional group to bring their artworks to our community.

Melissa Mitchell is a Texas-based entrepreneur and artist. She currently serves as Gallerist at Padre Island Art Gallery, where she manages operations and represents nearly 100 talented artists. With over 20 years of experience in marketing, branding, and business development across various industries, including art and design, she brings a diverse business perspective to her work. Melissa is passionate about building sustainable businesses that nurture creativity and innovation within the communities she serves.​​

In her role at the gallery, Melissa cultivates meaningful relationships with collectors and local art enthusiasts, ensuring a vibrant space for artistic expression. She also runs her own art and design venture, where she focuses on fine art, logo design, and educational courses aimed at empowering artists to develop their unique brands.​

Melissa’s artwork has been exhibited in galleries across Texas, showcasing her skill in acrylic painting, watercolor, and mixed media. A lifelong advocate for the arts, she believes in the transformative power of creativity and is committed to inspiring others through her work, whether in business or art.

​As an artist, I draw inspiration from the world around me seeking to capture both the beauty and tranquility of nature through my art. My pieces are often described as peaceful and calming, capturing my emotional journey and the themes of hope and renewal that inspire me.

Each artwork begins with an intuitive process, where I allow the materials to guide me. I layer colors and textures, often incorporating fragments of vintage papers and personal reflections, adding depth and narrative to my work. This organic approach enables the artwork to unfold naturally, revealing its story to the viewer.

In my recent series, I delve into the idea of connecting with nature, using organic shapes and earthy tones derived from all-natural materials sourced from trees. My desire is for my art to serve as a source of inspiration, encouraging others to embrace their own transformations and find beauty in the evolving nature of existence. Through my creations, I aim to connect with viewers and evoke emotions that resonate deeply with those who encounter my work.

​​Georgia O'Keeffe once said, “To create one's world in any of the arts takes courage, I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life, and I’ve never let it keep me from a single thing that I wanted to do.” This resonates deeply with me. If I can inspire even one person to grow and achieve more than they imagined, I will consider my mission a success.​​
