🖌 What is Line and Wash? Line and wash is a two-step painting technique where a soft, flowing watercolor wash is applied first, and then fine ink details are added on top. The watercolor creates a loose, organic background, while the ink adds structure, definition, and contrast. This technique is popular because it balances the spontaneity of watercolor with the control of fine-line drawing, making it accessible for all skill levels. About the Artist: Susan Balbin grew up in Houston and graduated from University of Houston Clear Lake majoring in Literature education with a minor in Art. She earned her Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A & M Corpus Christi. She has been working 29 years as an educator with 16 of those as an Art teacher. Susan has lived in Corpus Christi since 1991 and loves to go to the beach, to exercise, and to travel. She enjoys trying new creative endeavors as well as painting, drawing, and mixed media. When she is not creating, she enjoys hanging out with her family or going on outdoor adventures with them. Being outside is a major inspiration to her art.
